For over 30 years the Vanguard Parking and General Services Corporation has received an overwhelming and unprecedented level of support from a number of national, local, and community based organizations that were serious about the success of inner, city community based minority business enterprise (MBE) that have shown a commitment to providing progressive, quality, and supportive employment & training services in communities affected by the operations of community based private and public business institutions. Northeastern University, Long Bay Management, Inc. Boston Employment Services (STRIVE) Program, the Concerned Black Men of Massachusetts, Inc., The Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center, the City of Boston, The Commonwealth of Massachusetts,Bentley University, the University of Massachusetts at Boston and the many successful Vanguard Corporation Alumni, along with a strong and committed major client base, have enabled our business to thrive for over 3 decades.
Washington has made good on his pledge by helping two groups close to his heart: at-risk youth from Roxbury and fellow U.S. veterans.
Ernie Washington is a combat veteran of of Vietnam serving with the 1st Battalion 1st Marines, 1st Marine Division, 1st Battalion Landing Team, Western Pacific Ground Forces, and Military Police, United States Marine Corps. Wounded in action in Vietnam in 1967 he was awarded the Purple Heart Medal and the Vietnam Gallantry Cross Medal w/Palm. Enrolled at Bentley College of Accounting & Finance where he graduated in 1973 with degrees in Accounting and Management. In 1980 he was awarded a Masters Degree in Public Administration from Northeastern University. He is a Distinguished Alumnus of Bentley and Northeastern Universities. In 1986, he founded and remains President & General Manager of Vanguard Parking & General Services Corporation. For over 30 years, he has been an advocate for veterans and is a founding member, Treasurer, and President Emeritus of the Board of Directors of the Veterans Benefits Clearinghouse, Incorporated in Roxbury. He is a founding member and President of the Concerned Black Men of Massachusetts, Incorporated and has also been recognized by The International Society of Business Leaders.
Vanguard Parking & General Services Corporation is in an extraordinary network of support that shares in our team oriented attitude based employment and training programming. This has provided continuing employment opportunities and access to continuing education, family and financial planning, mentoring, upward mobility planning, athletic, religious, and lifestyle planning as well as support which is available to all staff in good standing. Our long-term plan is to continue to recruit, train, educate, and support qualified inner city youth, adults, students, physically challenged, at-risk, and residents of the City of Boston seeking to improve their lives, the lives of their families, and the future of their community. Mr. Washington resides in Mattapan with his beautiful family Carmela, Christy, Ivanna, Teagan, Taj, Ernestine, Jevani.
